We're Scouts and everyone is welcome here. Every week across Portsmouth, we help almost 1,500 people aged 4-25 develop skills for life. Are you ready to join the adventure?

How we offer places
Each Scout Group and Explorer Unit is responsible for its membership. Here are some things to be aware of:
Everyone’s welcome. All genders, races, backgrounds or physical abilities – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them. These are never factors in offering spaces.
Siblings are welcome. We understand the value (and convenience) of having brothers and sisters join the same Group or Unit. Groups/Units will try to offer siblings a place with their Scouting brother or sister if possible.
Volunteer Adults make a difference. Adult willingness to volunteer can be an essential factor when offering spaces. Every volunteer increases the capability of a Group or Unit to run Scouting.
Time waiting. It is rarely possible to allocate spaces based on time waiting alone. Leaders have a lot of other factors to consider.
It's not always possible to offer a place. The availability of spaces is strictly limited by the number of volunteers on hand to run Scouting safely.
More adults = more Scouting
We work hard to provide spaces to meet demand, but that is not always possible. Some requests may never receive an offer of a place.
